Join us for a special presentation and community discussion, “Children of the Promised Land,” led by Angela Bates.


Through a pictorial history, Angela Bates will share the stories of mothers and children in Nicodemus, Kansas, the only remaining western town established by African Americans during the Reconstruction period following the Civil War. Many of the children highlighted in this presentation were among the first in their families born free.
